How to add Minichef to your iOS Shortcuts

Learn how to integrate Minichef with Apple Shortcuts for lightning-fast recipe importing directly from your home screen.

Add Minichef to your Shortcuts

If you are an iOS user, Apple Shortcuts can take your Minichef workflow to the next level. By integrating Minichef with Shortcuts, you can save recipes to your cookbook with a single tap or even a voice command using Siri.

Here is how you can set it up.

Setting up the “Save Recipe” Shortcut

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the + button in the top right corner to create a new Shortcut.
  3. Tap Add Action.
  4. In the search bar, type Minichef.
  5. You will see an action called Save Recipe URL. Tap it to add it to your shortcut.
  6. Tap the text that says URL to edit the input. You can set this to receive text from the Share Sheet or from your Clipboard.
  7. Rename the shortcut to something memorable, like “Save to Minichef Cookbook”.

Using Siri

Once you have created the shortcut, you can use Siri to run it without opening the app.

For example, if you just copied a recipe link from a message, you can say: “Hey Siri, run Save to Minichef Cookbook.”

The shortcut will grab the link from your clipboard and Minichef will instantly start processing the recipe in the background.

Adding a Home Screen Widget

For even faster access:

  1. Long-press on your iOS Home Screen.
  2. Tap the + in the top left corner to add a widget.
  3. Search for Shortcuts.
  4. Select the single Shortcut widget and assign it to your new “Save to Minichef Cookbook” shortcut.

Now you have a dedicated button right on your home screen to instantly save whatever recipe link you have copied!
