A complete guide on maximizing your Minichef experience, from importing recipes to meal planning.
How can I get the most out of Minichef?
Welcome to Minichef! Getting started is easy, but if you want to become a power user and completely streamline your weekly cooking, there are a few core features you should take advantage of.
Here is your step-by-step guide to getting the most out of Minichef.
1. Import Your First Recipe Immediately
The magic of Minichef starts when you build your personal cookbook. Don’t type everything out by hand. Instead:
- Use the Share Extension: When you are browsing Instagram reels, TikToks, or food blogs on your phone, tap the “Share” button and select Minichef.
- Paste a Link: Open Minichef, tap the
+button, and paste a link to any recipe.
Our AI will automatically cut through the clutter and extract just the ingredients and instructions into a clean, easy-to-read format.
2. Start Tagging and Organizing
As your collection grows, organization is key.
- Create custom Tags for things like “Weeknight Dinners”, “Under 30 Mins”, or “High Protein”.
- Assign tags right after you import a recipe so you can easily filter them later when you need inspiration.
3. Build Your Weekly Meal Plan
Stop deciding what’s for dinner at 5 PM.
- Go to the Meal Plan tab.
- Drag and drop your saved recipes into the days of the week.
- You can even add custom notes for leftovers or dining out.
4. Generate AI Grocery Lists
Once your meal plan is set, the hardest part is done.
- Tap Generate Grocery List on your meal plan.
- Minichef will automatically aggregate all the ingredients required for those meals, mathematically combine similar items (e.g., 2 onions + 1 onion = 3 onions), and sort them by grocery store aisle!
- Check items off right from the app while you shop.
5. Use the Interactive Cooking Mode
When it’s time to cook, open the recipe and tap Cook Mode. This keeps your screen awake, enlarges the text, and lets you check off steps and ingredients as you go, so you never lose your place.
By adopting these 5 habits, you’ll save hours every week on meal prep and grocery shopping!
